Leighaven Bernese Mountain Dogs

For years we had been doing research in an attempt to find a breed of dog who would fit in perfectly with our family.
We were primarily looking for a dog whose gentle temperment would be suitable for our young children. We wanted a dog who would enjoy spending time outside with us as we were out in our yard, and be
able to happily take part in family activities in a playful and loving way. We wanted a dog who would be intelligent and easy to train so that they were well behaved around our guests. And we also wanted a dog who looked noble with a striking appearance. After years of looking, one breed kept coming back to us - the Bernese Mountain Dog.
We decided that Berners would be a perfect match for our family, and thus began our search to find a Berner puppy. We visited a Specialty show and met some Berners in real life which only confirmed our desire and love of the breed.
We met the Whittakers and got on their waiting list, and it wasn't long until we received news that little Maddie would be joining our family. Maddie was the perfect dog for us. She is definitely the dog of our hearts and we have many happy memories of our first little girl.
After Maddie's arrival, we were hooked, and it wasn't long until our boy Jaggar arrived at our home. Warren made the trek down to the States to collect Jag from Bobbi Kinley Blewett from Adesa kennel, and Jag became Warren's very best friend. Jaggy wishes he was a lap dog, but will settle for sitting on your feet. One never has cold feet when Jagger is around!
Soon Nina came to join us from Lisa Ebnet's kennel in Washington. Nina's exuberant energy is perfectly suited to a busy family, and she loves to work pulling the cart, and towing the kids up the sledding hill. And along with Nina came an entire bundle of joy - nine little puppies.
With the arrival of the Ebnet von Leighaven litter, we enjoyed the challenges of raising a litter of puppies, and learned a lot during this time, especially due to the expert guidance that Lisa Ebnet was kind enough to offer us. The puppies were only with us a short while until they were off to their own families.
We soon had the patter of little puppy feet around again, as Willow joined our family, once again one of Lisa Ebnet's Bernese Mountain Dogs. Willow showed us the boundless energy of having a puppy around, and even though she has grown, she still has that playful nature about her.
Our house wasn't to be long without little puppies around, as our second litter arrived not long after with Nina and Jaggar's litter, the Leighaven A litter. Once again we were thrilled to have some wonderful families to send our puppies home to. Henry from that litter is co-owned by Warren.
With a house full of Berners we were still ready to welcome another Ebnet dog to our home. Berlynn joined our family, and is co-owned with Lisa Ebnet.
When a neighbour told us of a local Bernese Mountain Dog who needed a new family to love her , we couldn' resist, and Tess joined our family. Tess is soft and gentle and welcomes all of the attention that the children dote upon her.
Berlynn had her first litter of puppies and we were excited to be able to offer the seven little furry friends from the Leighaven B litter to a new excited group of puppy owners.
We look forward to many more years with many more Berners.
